Let’s get crafty! It’s March and not January, but if you’re anything like me you love notebooks and the illusion of productivity. Let’s make a vision board! Even better, grab your friends and a few bottles of wine and have a vision board party!
What is a Vision Board?
A vision board is a collage of pictures that represent your goals, inspirations, and aspirations no matter how big or small! You can include workout pictures and healthy meal options with inspirational quotes to inspire you to focus on making healthy choices. Or cool destinations around the world if you want to travel! Think of it as a visual bucket list that’s meant to inspire you, and remind you of the path you’re on when you look at it.
Supplies Needed
A bunch of magazines with photos to cut up and collage. I actually used a vision board book that I bought on Amazon. Two reasons. I’m lazy. Two, the book was full of a ton of aesthetically pleasing pictures so I can be one of those talented Pinterest girlies or someone on Tumblr with a really cool photo blog circa 2013. You know the ones. I’ll link the one I used. Not sponsored, by the way. I fully endorse this and really liked it as someone who bought it with my own money and used it. Vision Board Book from Amazon
- Scissors
- Tape, glue, or a double sided tape roller. I have a million double sided tape rollers for my crafts, and they’re so much easier to use especially for things like this. Like three bucks at Michaels or whatever hobby store you prefer.
- Stickers to add into the white space when you inevitably can’t make the pictures fit perfectly together. Cause you can’t handle scissors correctly as a full adult. Just me? Okay.
- Washi tape. See reasoning above.
- A note book or a cork board or some board to put all of your photos on! Make sure it’s something you look at a lot or use a lot. The more visually accessible it is, the better.
- A beverage of your choosing. I actually had cold brew and a cup of tea when I made mine.
- A candle. Not necessary, but I am a candle lady all day every day.
Cut up whatever pictures you like and arrange them in a nice collage or ordered format of your choosing. Glue them to the board or page and add some fun flair whether it be stickers, fun washi tape, markers, or whatever you’re into! That’s it! And remember, it doesn’t have to be perfect. I know I strive to for it to look amazing all the time and it doesn’t always pan out. We’re all learning and trying together and that’s what matters.
My vision board for this year revolved a lot around some fun inspirational quotes, clean eating and exercise, making some big changes in my life revolving around moving and travel, and self-care. I spent a ton of time for the last year and a half of my life being insanely busy. I worked 47 hours a week while being a full time student finishing my degree. And you know what? It sucked a lot even though I got through it with flying colors. I didn’t have a lot of time for myself, so this year I’m focusing on my hobbies and doing what I want to do. Which is why a ton of the vision board revolved around self care and exercise. Doing the things I wanted to and didn’t have a ton of time for. I’m trying to unplug more and spend more time not looking at a screen. The works. I ended up cutting out a ton of photos from the vision board book and categorizing them. I made the spread into maybe 5-6 pages in my bullet journal, which I use constantly to keep me organized. It ended up being a lot of fun and I got to listen to some relaxing instrumental music while I worked. This was a great way to take some time for myself and unwind.

Some final things to wrap up. Let me know if you try this out in the comments and how it turned out! I have another post coming out early next week on doom scrolling. Gasp! I’m considering starting a series called Tech Free Tuesdays for this where I talk about other things to do to help you unplug from your phone and get back to 3 dimensional life. Also, please give me your feedback on how this content form/style is. I’m trying to keep it laid back and conversational. I don’t think it’s super realistic to sound overly formal with this because that’s not who I am. Send any requests my way too! Thanks for reading and try to cope with the Sunday Scaries as best you can.
